Our vision has been unchanging since the beginning and can be expressed in two words: a better world. A better world based on scientific knowledge and new technologies.

This vision has been fulfilled every day, by every one of us, for ten years.

About Hydal PHA

Hydal is a technology to produce a fully biodegradable and biocompatible PHA polymer from used cooking oil. The company derives its name from the abbreviation for Polyhydroxyalkanoates – or PHA: the first biopolymer of its kind produced on an industrial scale at an affordable price.

Hydal PHA’s technology is rooted in the concept of the circular economy and shows global potential as it seeks to bring used cooking oil and other waste oils back into circulation as a globally available raw material. In addition, it is making efforts to tackle some of the problems associated with global pollution caused by plastics and microplastics.

"The whole world talks about the circular economy as an ideal vision in which no waste is generated. But few companies can actually build their business model on a complete closed loop."

About this website

This website is designed to be informative and educational and aims to provide a basic insight into the circular economy, the production and use of biopolymers, their application in everyday life, such as the replacement of everyday plastics and the way to a waste-free economy, practical use in the production of cosmetic products, the replacement of non-organic fertilizers in agriculture or significant help in health care, such as materials for 3D printing of joint replacements.

The site also includes a glossary that permeates virtually all articles, making it possible to keep a constant overview of the substance of the text you are reading. Also interesting is the permanently updated Q&A section, where you can quickly find basic answers to your most common questions.

And if even all this is not enough, you can still contact our experts by email or sign up for our newsletter and thus be regularly informed about events and news in this area.
